Alijah Arenas Crash Leaves Star Recruit in Coma

The Alijah Arenas crash is making headlines as the USC basketball recruit and Chatsworth High School star remains in a coma following a serious accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck early Thursday morning in Reseda, Los Angeles.
The crash occurred near Corbin Avenue and Blythe Street just before 5 a.m. The Cybertruck reportedly lost control, striking a tree and a fire hydrant. Alijah, 18, was pulled from the wreck and rushed to the hospital, where he was declared to be in stable condition but has since slipped into a coma.

LAPD Officer Rosario Cervantes confirmed that the incident did not involve drugs or alcohol. A TMZ video shows the aftermath, capturing Arenas lying motionless near the wrecked vehicle while water from the broken hydrant floods the street. Bystanders repeatedly urge him to “wake up.”
The Los Angeles Times shared photos showing the truck severely damaged, wrapped around a tree with shattered windows and scattered debris. A few hours later, the Cybertruck caught fire at a local tow yard, which led the fire department to respond to a hazardous materials situation.

USC head coach Eric Musselman posted on social media, asking fans to keep Alijah and his loved ones in their thoughts. “Our prayers are with Alijah and his family,” Musselman wrote. Meanwhile, Alijah’s mother, Laura Govan, asked for prayers on Instagram, calling on the community to send support.
Gilbert Arenas canceled a planned livestream appearance on Thursday following the news.
Alijah’s teammates and classmates at Chatsworth High are rallying around his family, hoping for a full recovery.
